Stage Makeup
This course will introduce students to the complexities of stage makeup. Utilizing a hands on approach, the course is specially designed to facilitate active learning while exploring basic makeup procedures and complex prosthetic makeup application.

COURSE GOALS
Develop an understanding of basic Theatrical makeup techniques including: using highlight and shadow to enhance, alter, age, and change facial features
Develop simple prosthetics from a life cast
Assemble a research morgue to aid in makeup design
Design a character makeup after play and character analysis

FINAL DESIGN PROJECT
Select a character from a play in the chosen list. Compile accompanying visual research for the design. Submit a proposal that will include: a brief synopsis and analysis of the play, a character analysis, a production concept, a description of the techniques you will use, and why you have chosen this particular character in this particular play. The design must include a prosthetic and may include false facial hair or eyebrow blocking.
